Shift Shuffle

In a busy retail store, a department manager is finalizing the monthly schedule. When reviewing requests for weekend availability, the manager assigns all the closing shifts to David, a young worker who identifies as asexual and single, while consistently giving the coveted morning and daytime slots to employees with families. When David politely asks why his schedule is so demanding, the manager shrugs and says, "Well, the others have partners and kids to get home to on weekends, so they need the normal hours more than you do."
